SNOW-mageddon 2017

Today is Friday, January 6th, 2017. It is 11AM, and the people in my town are bracing for SNOW-mageddon, 2017. It seems we should start seeing snow sometime tonight and into Saturday. Weather forecasts say anywhere from 1-6 inches. Really?

I remember last year the weather forecasters called for about 257 inches by morning. I went to bed all prepared to sleep in the next day, watch TV all day, and nap during the parts I wasn’t watching TV or eating. Instead, I awoke to ZERO SNOWFALL! What? I was seriously disappointed.

I am not a snow lover. I really enjoy watching it fall, and I love the first day of it when I can stay home and cuddle up. Day two rolls around, and I want the stuff gone. After all, I might need to go to the grocery store. (All the people in my town will be eating french toast and chili this weekend. I know this because there isn’t a slice of bread, an egg, or any kidney beans within 75 miles of Rock Hill, South Carolina.)

I am very happy to know, if snow comes our way, my Momma will be tucked up safely in her assisted living apartment. She will have an army of dedicated employees serving her every need. Generators are available in case the power goes out. Food is stock piled, and employees know they might be spending the night in order to provide appropriate staffing the next day.

This is one of the reasons I love assisted living. Momma is ALWAYS cared for. In addition, Momma can walk down the hall, even during a huge snowstorm, and visit friends. Social stimulation is important for all of us, but it is even more important when dementia is part of the picture.

Sometimes, You’ve Just Got To Laugh!

An American businessman went to Japan on a business trip, but he hated Japanese food . He asked the concierge at the hotel if there was any place around where he could get American food.

The concierge told him he was in luck. “There is a new pizza place nearby that just opened and they deliver.”

He gave the man the phone number of the pizza place, and the American went back to his room and ordered a pepperoni pizza.

Thirty minutes later the pizza guy arrived with the pizza

The American businessman opened the pizza and began sneezing uncontrollably.

“What on earth did you put on this pizza?” he asked the delivery guy.

The pizza man bowed deeply and replied,

“We put on the pizza what you ordered – pepper only.”
